Young Carers

Young Carers are children or teenagers who look after, or help to look after, someone in their family who has an illness, disability, mental health difficulties or problems with drugs or alcohol misuse.

We at Holcombe are committed to supporting Young Carers and enabling them to achieve their educational potential. We believe that all children and young people have the right to an equal education, regardless of what is happening in their home environment.

We are working in partnership with Medway’s Young Carers Project to help young carers to participate in all aspects of school life and give information to the young person and/or their families about any relevant support which is available.

Holcombe Grammar School run a regular Young Carers lunchtime club in school and any students are welcome to come along for further information.

If you or your child would like to discuss Young Carers in private please feel free to contact Student Services.
