GCSE results lead to exciting next steps for Holcombe Grammar School students

Students at Holcombe Grammar School, located in Chatham and part of the Thinking Schools Academy Trust, have been picking up their excellent GCSE results this morning.

This is an important milestone, which recognises the hard work and dedication students have shown for the last two years. They now embark on exciting new ventures, with many staying at Holcombe to join the Sixth Form.

The school pleased to report once again that 30% of GCSE grades were Grade 7 or above (equivalent to an A or A*) and over 75% of grades were a ‘strong pass’ of Grade 5 and above.

The school saw particular success in subjects including chemistry, physics and GCSE physical education where over 50% of grades were at 7 and above. Additionally, over 40% of grades were at 7 and above in mathematics (with 16 students achieving a Grade 9) and design and technology and in drama and music 100% of students achieved a 5 and above.

Alongside the school's overall success, many pupils have achieved exceptional individual results, including:

  • Ethan G, who achieved Grade 9s in mathematics, combined science, geography and business and Grade 8s in design and technology, English literature, Spanish and a Grade 6 in English language.
  • Ayo A, who has received Grade 9s in English language, mathematics, biology and physics, Grade 8s in chemistry and computer science, Grade 7s in English literature and Spanish and Grade 6 in geography.
  • Joshua S, who secured a fantastic set of results with Grade 9s in mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics and Grade 8s in English language, English literature, geography and business and a Grade 6 in Spanish.
  • Kairan L, who’s secured Grade 9s in mathematics, combined science, computer science and Spanish, Grade 8 in geography, Grade 7s in English language, English literature and music.
  • Isaac J has achieved Grade 9s in mathematics, chemistry and physics, Grade 8s in English language, biology, geography and Grade 7s in English literature, psychology and Spanish
  • Finlay H who achieved Grade 9 in history and psychology, a Grade 9-8 in combined science, Grade 8s in English language, mathematics, Grade 7s in English literature and physical education and a grade 4 in Spanish.
  • Chris B, who has picked up Grade 9s in mathematics and design and technology, Grade 8s in English language, biology, chemistry and physics, Grade 7s in French and geography and a Grade 6 in English literature
  • Mughniy L, who has achieved Grade 9s in English language and English literature and Grade 8s in mathematics, combined science, geography, business studies and design and technology and Grade 5 in French.
  • Zachary C, who has picked up Grade 9s in English literature and history, Grade 8s in English language, mathematics, combined science and physical education, Grade 7 in psychology and Grade 5 in Spanish.
  • Sebastian P achieved Grade 9s in mathematics and combined science, Grade 8s in English literature and design and technology, Grade 7s in English language, geography and Spanish and Grade 6 in psychology.
  • Brodie H has picked up a Grade 9 in mathematics, a Grade 9-8 in combined science, Grade 8s in English literature and geography, Grade 7s in design and technology and psychology, Grade 6 in English language and Grade 5 in Spanish.
  • Zak B has achieved Grade 9 in mathematics, Grade 8s in English literature, biology, chemistry and physics, Grade 7s in English language, geography and psychology and Grade 4 in Spanish.

  

Collecting his GCSE results today, Brodie H said: ‘I am really pleased with my results today. My hard work over the past few years has paid off. I am looking forward to staying at Holcombe to study A Levels in Biology, Maths and Psychology. I would like to thank my teachers for all of their support and am looking forward to Year 12’.

Chris B said: ‘I am feeling relieved but really pleased. I am staying at Holcombe to do Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Further Maths. I would like to thank all of my teachers for helping me over my time here’.
