Year 6 Transition

Year 6 Transition

Congratulations on being offered a place at Holcombe!

The transition from Year 6 to Year 7 can be daunting, but here at Holcombe we do everything we can to make this transition as smooth and easy as possible. This is your Year 6 Transition page, which will contain everything you need to know and guidance to support your parents and carers in getting you ready for your new school.

Firstly, we would recommend having a look through our most recent newsletter: Click here, which will give you an idea of what life at Holcombe is like. We would also suggest looking through a few of our school blogs. Click here, here and here. These blogs are sent out weekly, with the aim of informing parents and students about goings on at Holcombe, as well as celebrating life here and the achievements of our students. We particularly love celebrating the extra-curricular activities our students may be undertaking alongside their studies here.

We enjoyed Induction Day at Holcombe and it was a pleasure to finally see you in our classrooms where your learning will take place in the coming years.

Please see equipment requirements here.

It is important that you take time to prepare for Year 7 and ensure you are ready for Grammar School. To support you at home, please click here to view the Year 6 Summer Assignment that was distributed during the Induction Day.

There are a total of 20 tasks to complete over the summer, and with support from parents you will start building the habits and expectations that you will find typical of your new school. When you officially join Holcombe in September, you must be able to show your form tutor evidence in your first week that you have worked through this assignment.
We are very excited for the year ahead and look forward to meeting you!
