Remaining safe outside of school

Dear Parent/Carer,

I write to advise you of incident which occurred after school on November 21st 2017 and of which you should be made aware of.

One of our Year 7 students was waiting to be collected close to the corner of Letchworth Avenue and Maidstone Road when a man in a black car stopped and asked him if he wanted a lift. Fortunately our student declined the offer and ran back to school, which was exactly the right thing to do.

Our student’s mother contacted the police who have advised that this is the second such incident to have taken place recently in the area. We will speak to students today via Form Tutors warning them not to accept lifts from strangers. Please also talk with your son/daughter and advise them to be cautious, and that should anyone approach them while waiting outside school the safest thing to do is return to Holcombe and go to to the school office.

Yours sincerely

Juliet Diaz
