When the school year finished in July four students from Holcombe Grammar School rode off in to the sunset on brand new road bikes.
The bikes had been mounted high on the walls of the school hall for much of the year as a reminder of the potential end of year prize. Students were clear on what they had to do… complete as many reward cards as possible to increase their chances in the prize drawer.
Mr R Gardiner’s final assembly before retirement played host to the draw and the tension matched any of his fabled assemblies of the last 29 years.
When the bikes were safety checked and helmets strapped on – the winning students rode off safely into the summer break sitting comfortably on the results of their hard work and commitment.
