Fidget Spinners seem to be this year’s craze for must-have toys and a lot of our students are bringing them into school. There is no reliable medical evidence that Fidget Spinners help students to concentrate in their lessons and our evidence is that they have an adverse effect.
If your child has a diagnosis of an SEN difficulty and needs to have an item to manipulate to aid his/her concentration then please feel free to contact me to discuss their requirements, I have a small stock of approved items that may be suitable for him/her instead.
In common with other schools we are finding that the volume of these toys being used in lessons is not helping students to focus and is, in fact, having a dramatically opposite effect and we have made the decision to ban them from the school site with effect from Monday 22nd May. Any fidget spinner that we do find will be confiscated and parents asked to collect it from the school office.
